Italian clinicians have published a novel case report on a severely immune suppressed HIV patient whose giant wart was completely healed following a long period of treatment with acupuncture. The wart, which covered the entire radial aspect of the patient’s right hand, was resistant to cryotherapy and untreatable by surgery because of his immune status. The patient received traditional Chinese acupuncture, consisting of 58 treatment sessions over 19 months. Auricular points used included Shenmen Kidney, Liver and Fingers (right ear). Body acupoints used included Zhongwan REN-12, Xiawan REN-10, Qihai REN-6, Guanyuan REN-4, Neiguan P-6, Zusanli ST-36 and Taichong LIV-3. Acupuncture was slowly but completely efficacious, causing complete resolution of the wart, leaving a healthy skin surface at the end of the treatment period.
