Acupuncturist: Lorna Withers, BA(Hons), LicAc, MBAcC
Lorna’s first encounter with acupuncture was as a patient while living in Japan in the early 1990’s. She was so impressed by the rapid results of her treatment, and fascinated by the holistic approach to health and life that she decided to investigate further; studying privately with her practitioner.
Through treatment and study Lorna realised that the balanced approach of acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine offered solutions not only to healthcare but to greater well being in life generally. As a result she was inspired to train and qualify as an acupuncturist and on her return to Britain she completed an intensive three year diploma at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture.
Lorna Withers’ long established Essex Acupuncture practise provides effective treatments combining Traditional Chinese acupuncture, cupping therapy and moxibustion. She is also pleased to have added the new techniques of Battlefield Acupuncture to this extensive arsenal.
For the acupuncturist, the success of the treatment lies in its holistic approach which encompasses the whole body and ensures that the person receives a treatment that has been individually tailored to their specific needs. No two people are the same!
Lorna often works with people during times of change in their lives – pregnancy, birth, bereavement, divorce, menopause, retirement, puberty – as debilitating symptoms can arise during stressful times of transition. Acupuncture can help facilitate a smooth path at these challenging times, and Lorna is passionate about helping people establish and maintain health and well-being.
In Lorna’s experience, common symptoms which have responded positively include menstrual difficulties and problems conceiving; low energy and feeling run down; aches and pains of back, neck, joints and head; stress-related sleep problems, anxiety, panic attacks and digestive disturbance, and skin problems.
Post graduate studies have included courses in treating gynaecological problems, infertility, complementary acupuncture for medical IVF procedures, emotional stress and depression and musculo skeletal pain and injury.
