Acupuncture shows promise in reducing some of the problems associated with female sexual dysfunction (FSD). American researchers carried out a time series study in a self-selected population of 17 non-randomised subjects who received four acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture was found to lead to reductions in symptoms related to FSD, both at end-of-treatment and three weeks later. Sexual desire was found to improve, as did urogenital and menopausal symptoms, while psychological symptoms including anxiety were reduced.
